This is Power of Hope CamP....
a gathering of 45 youth (14 to 18 years of age) from diverse backgrounds and life situations, and 25 adult staff and volunteers who are delighted to be with you—visual artists, musicians, actors, storytellers, dancers, naturalists, self-care specialists, community activists, change makers—all there to build a community in which everyone thrives. Good food, good friends, and good fun, in a relaxing, natural setting.
At Power of Hope Camp you’ll develop confidence, a joy for life, and the internal motivation to follow your aspirations and live a meaningful life. You’ll learn to build bridges across lines of difference like religion, culture and class—an increasingly important skill in today’s world. Diversity is foundational to the Power of Hope Camp experience. We are non-religious and our camp is open to all.
“What I liked most about camp was the supportive and loving community. ”
—Teen Camper, POH 2015 at Commonweal
About power of hope
We believe that as a young person, your voice and energy is needed to help build a world that works for everybody. You have important gifts to offer, and at POH camp you’ll discover that you have more skill, talents, and spirit than you ever imagined.
You’ll get to explore your creativity with an amazing team of artists who can show you how to use the arts to unleash your power. You’ll learn from youth and adult activists who are dedicated to making a difference in the world. And best of all, you’ll make friends with like-minded youth from all different cultures and life situations, from around the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the United States and Canada.
At POH camp you’ll experience what it’s like to just be yourself and feel supported by a creative community of all kinds of people. We invite you to join us, just as you are, and be willing to surprise yourself.
