Power of Hope is a week-long summer camp held at the Point Reyes National Seashore in Bolinas, CA. Located on the beautiful protected lands of Commonweal, POH is based in the Creative Community model of Partners for Youth Empowerment, a global non-profit that's promoted youth agency through the arts for over 20 years.
Power of Hope is a uniquely transformative experience. Every year, youth come to camp to build connections through creativity, open dialogue, time in nature, music and song. Our experienced teaching artist staff and volunteers engage youth in workshops, guided activities, and small group sessions throughout the week. Sample workshops have included hip hop dance, fire-making, freestyling, Afrofuturist trading cards, social justice theater, rap, studying cloud patterns, creative writing, vouguing, filmmaking, and much more. Camp always has a Beach Day, an Open Mic Night, a Youth-Led Day, the Heart Circle and a ceremony for graduating seniors.
Now in its fourth year at Commonweal, Power of Hope has become a rite of passage for many youth across the Bay Area. We are proud to reach a wide range of communities, from Los Angeles to Bolinas-Stinson and beyond. Scholarships and payment plans are available to all families, and no one is turned away for inability to pay.
